About

A little bit about the course…COM3113 Creative Entrepreneurship is a junior level Communications course at Lawrence Technological University. The pre-requisite is Technical and Professional Communication.

The development of COM3113 is funded by a grant from the Coleman Foundation’s Coleman Fellows program. The Coleman Foundation defines entrepreneurship as “self employment through business ownership which has significant elements of risk, control and reward.” Creative Entrepreneurship aims to introduce students in creative disciplines (including computer science, psychology, English and communication arts, humanities, media communication and others) to the opportunities for self employment in their fields, and to the communication methods used in entrepreneurship. The course stresses collaboration, and combines theories of business and entrepreneurship with hands-on practice in collaboration, business plan creation and idea/business presentations.

COM3113 is taught by Dr. Karen Evans, JD. Dr. Evans researches intellectual property law and entrepreneurship in addition to teaching at Lawrence Tech and serving as Director of Undergraduate Management Programs and Director of the Your Lawrence Tech Quest program.
